Sunakhi

Online boutique for a Birmingham-based Indian fashion brand.

Sunakhi website

Sunakhi operates at the intersection of high street and digital. A family-run boutique in Birmingham built trust through face-to-face relationships and the eye of an experienced stylist — something that hasn’t changed with an online presence. The challenge wasn’t replacing that experience; it was extending it.

The brief

The team needed a site that respected their community. A browsable catalogue of lehengas, sarees, salwar suits, and jewellery that felt as curated as their in-store displays, paired with the ability to book one-to-one video styling appointments. The site had to work for customers in the UK exploring new occasions, and for relatives abroad ordering for relatives at home.

Building trust online

E-commerce for ethnic wear thrives on detail: fabric weight, drape, occasion-suitability. Sunakhi had that knowledge — it needed translation into photos, descriptions, and a filtering system that made browsing feel like advice, not searching a warehouse. We built a product catalogue that organised stock by collection, occasion, and size, with enough visual hierarchy that customers could navigate confidently without losing the sense of curation.

The appointment booking system sits alongside commerce. A customer can save looks, then book a video call with a stylist who can see their selections and offer alternatives. That blurs the line between online shopping and personal service — precisely what a boutique offers.

The outcome

The site became an extension of the shop floor, not a replacement for it. Customers in the Midlands could browse at home; customers overseas could explore new stock and arrange a styling session. The infrastructure supports both transactional and relational sales — a distinction that matters in a business built on trust. Behind the scenes, stock, collections, and appointment availability are all editable by the team without touching code, so a new arrival or a festival edit goes live the same day it reaches the shop floor, keeping the online boutique as current as the rail in store.

Sunakhi’s model shows why e-commerce for independent fashion retailers works best when the site respects its roots. Start a conversation if you’re building a platform for a brand that serves real people, not algorithmic segments.
